Launch of the Pilot Phase of the National Emergency Aid Centre (NACA) Transit Management System

One of the main objectives of our country’s health system is to provide reliable health services throughout the country for the benefit of society as a whole and to promote it at an international level, in view of the large influx of tourists. In this context, the coordination and execution of patient evacuation from one geographical point to another with the cooperation of the National Emergency Aid Centre (NACA), as the Coordination Body, and the Armed Forces for the provision of water and/or air means plays a key role in the field of public health.

In the direction of strengthening the overall work of the National Emergency Aid Centre (NACA) and in particular the response and coordination to ambulance requests from every point (especially from the many islands) of our country, our company was entrusted with the development and integration of the Integrated Information System (IIS) of the NACA.

After a thorough documentation of the operational operation of the Air Ambulance Center, in connection with the technology tool used to meet the requirements of coordination and execution of interventions, our company prepared an Implementation Study for the development of the new Information System, which would ensure on the one hand the basic needs of operational operation and on the other hand would cover all the emerging, over the years, requirements of facilitation in the reception, management and accounting of requests for interventions. At the same time, as far as possible, a partial modification of the incident management model (Business Process Reengineering) was proposed, approved and implemented in the new Information System to simplify the procedures followed, save resources and reduce the human effort required.

For the development of the Hospitalization Management System, our company utilized modern web-based technologies, with the contribution of which a platform was formed that will facilitate the work of the human resources involved (Flying Doctors – Paramedics – Coordinators – Coordinating Doctors – Administrative Employees) and eliminate the geographical limitations of previous technology tools.

Currently, the successful progression of the development and integration of the new Information System is being crowned with the start of pilot (parallel) operation by the Air Ambulance Centre staff with the aim of making it fully and productively operational from the New Year.

In conclusion, the awarding of the implementation of the above IT project highlights the strong intention of the National Emergency Aid Centre (NACA) to strengthen its infrastructure, meet operational needs, improve the quality of services provided and ultimately ensure the most valuable asset, health.
